Fingerprints all over the apple

ruby most precious to the eye

a need to care and build a castle

although it tatters the fabric's ply

by collateralising all you own

tugging at pawnbroker's heartstrings

when away efforts get blown

slingshot touch, fierce ache it brings.

The recipients of our affection

tend to be the most ungrateful

err not, inapplicable to animals

for they are not humans rational

therefore they exist and matter

weal nor woe, beast nor foe

love deprived to affection drawn

strays reluctant on pitter-patter.

Pure hearts receive affection with joy
to them real love is not another toy
sincere kindness is returned doubly
trust is earned honestly and humbly
these fingerprints cannot be removed
betrayal is not part of animal attitude
to animals the merits matter
their love and loyalty don't falter.
